Preparation Ideas for A Baby Shower Menu

There are many things to take into consideration when preparing a baby shower menu. Grab a pen, paper and your thinking cap and let's get started planning your way to an ideal baby shower meal!

Budget
It is best to begin by deciding how much money you can spend on food because your budget will definately affect your baby shower menu.

Number of Guests
What is the number of people that you plan to invite? How many will most likely show up? Knowing the amount of people that you think will attend your baby shower will assist you in determining what kind of menu you can afford. Buffets are typically expensive but not if you're planning to serve only a few people.

Time and Place
When and where are you planning to hold the baby shower? This will help you figure out whether or not to plan for a light meal or a heavier meal. Baby showers usually don't take place of a morning but this does happen from time to time. The menu for a morning shower is simpler to prepare than one for a lunch or dinner shower. Baby showers in the afternoon work the best and allow you to provide a moderate event, which would include snacks or finger foods and maybe something like salad or pasta.

The location will also help you decide what is appropriate for you to serve. A baby shower held in the ballroom of a hotel would demand a menu just as grand. A baby shower held outdoors allows for something much more casual to be served.

Preferences and Exceptions
It may be difficult, but if you want to try to satisfy all of your guests, you should take the time to ask each of them if they have any special dietary requirements. Take note of who follows a vegetarian diet, is lactose intolerant or diabetic.

Cook or Cater?
Do you want to handle the job or have someone else do it for you? Catering usually costs more, but it also takes a lot of stress from you. Cooking requires a lot of time and effort on your part, but it can also be fun if you ask friends or family to help out.

Theme
Last but certainly not least, don't forget to coordinate your baby shower menu with the theme you are using. If you chose to go Hawaiian for your baby shower theme then your menu should include tropical fruits or other tropical foods.

It is a good idea to print out your baby shower menu once you have it planned out to place on the tables at your shower.
